Inositol Cancer Treatment Plus Prevention Full Review

Inositol is a sugar alcohol that is about 50% the sweetness of regular table sugar. It is a simple carbohydrate found in various foods high in bran, fruits and even nuts. IP6 is very closely related to inositol and only differs by how many carbon groups are attached to phosphate. Inositol is the free form where as IP6 has phosphate bonded to all 6 carbon groups. Both of these are usually combined for synergistic potential. When tested, IP6 + inositol cancer effect was greater then when either was used alone. These type of lab results have sky rocketed the combos popularity to a whole new level. But does this simple carbohydrate really have what it takes to tackle something as serious as cancer?

IP6 + Inositol Cancer Pilot Study.

So far this combo has only one human cancer study. However, direct IP6 and inositol cancer effect activity was not evaluated in this study. Only safety and quality of life were assessed.  Study did show that IP6 + inositol helped tremendously with chemotherapy side effects. Patients that received chemotherapy as well as the inositol cancer combo did not have a drop in leukocyte or platelet counts. The study concluded that IP6 + inositol is valuable in ameliorating side effects and preserving quality of life during chemotherapy.

IP6 + Inositol Cancer Case Reports.

Many testimonials are available when searching the net, but take these with a grain of salt. Testimonials cannot be verified and any benefits someone experienced might not even be related to Ip6 and inositol. However, case studies do provide more accurate and detailed information.

4 case studies were found in the abstracts of the seventh international conference of anticancer research. 3 of the 4 cases used IP6 + inositol as an adjunct treatment in addition to other conventional therapy the patients were already undergoing. From these 3 case studies the combination treatment helped with chemotherapy side effects but direct IP6 + inositol cancer effect activity cannot be validated.

The 4th case shows IP6 + inositol was started after chemo-radiotherapy was terminated mid course due to severe side effects. Partial cancer was still active while treatment was terminated. 8 months later patient started IP6 + inositol and over 4 years later patient is still alive. The combo has seemed to stabilize disease for a long period of time. This is the only case study that shows direct IP6 + inositol cancer effect activity.

Inositol Cancer Prevention.

IP6 + inositol used for cancer prevention looks promising. For the fact that it can protect against the terrible side effects chemotherapy inflicts on cancer patients speaks for itself. As of right now things look good. However, no long term studies have been done to support that IP6 + inositol used as a daily supplement will prevent against cancer. No true conclusion can be made until more long term studies are done. A new clinical trial testing inositol alone on lung cancer patients might get us one step closer to that answer we are so desperately looking for. Watch the video below for more information about this exciting new clinical trial.

Final Thought.

Striping the IP6 + inositol cancer combo from all the hype and testimonials we can see the true abilities of this health supplement. We first know it is effective in minimizing chemotherapy side effects. But we are still not 100% sure if it can interfere with chemotherapy’s anti-cancer effect. Minimizing side effects is great but not at the cost of also minimizing the killing effect chemotherapy has on cancer cells. The limited studies so far do suggest no conflict has been noticed but further more in-depth studies need to be performed to make sure. We also know that cancer prevention looks promising and studies are currently testing this as we speak. As a stand alone treatment for cancer, IP6 + inositol has a long way to go. Only one case study showed a stabilization of disease as a stand alone treatment. Other natural treatments have already been tested more and performed better, like for example melatonin. If you are thinking about using IP6 + inositol keep in mind the limitations and risks. Don’t get suckered into thinking this can be a stand alone treatment for cancer.

Fun Fact: Inositol is used as a cocaine prop in TV because of its powdery white appearance.

      Karen,

I have heard about beta glucans in general but not this specific formulation. Beta glucans, various mushroom extracts, and AHCC all have some positive data but i will have to dig deeper to find out if they have real potential or do they just boost the immune system without any direct effect on active cancer. I will be doing articles on all three of those in the future. I do know that while doing research on mushroom extracts and AHCC i did find case reports of cancer responses. Unfortunately, these were only case reports and not full studies or clinical trials.

Thank you for providing this detailed information. You may want to update this post with the latest report from Mayo Clinic Jacksonville of a complete remission of stage 4 Melanoma. Patient refused traditional therapy and took 10 capsules of IP6 + Inositol daily. At the time the report was published he had been in complete remission for over 3 years.
